ISRI Annual Convention and Exposition 2018
It’s soon time for ISRI’s Annual Convention and Exposition, the largest gathering of metal recycling professionals in the world, and we are going to be there!
“Every year, we attend this event to meet with our clients and share our new developments with them”, says Herbert Black, Chief Executive Officer and owner of American Iron and Metal (AIM), a global leader in the metal recycling industry. “It’s an excellent opportunity to do so, especially for those we see less frequently in person.”
With hands-on, in-depth knowledge of the business gleaned through 58 years of experience in the field, Mr. Black has transformed the small scrap metal business begun by his father into a vertically integrated, multi-billion-dollar enterprise.
Meet our team
In addition to Mr. Black, AIM’s foremost experts in ferrous and non-ferrous will be attending the trade show in Las Vegas. Here are some other members of the team:
With 37 years of service at the company, Serge is our non-ferrous guru and a familiar face at ISRI, having shared his expertise there for over 20 years. He’s the goalie of our team and he’s played every position: beginning in the plant, Serge worked his way up to Vice President of Sales & Marketing for AIM Recycling. He truly has hands-on experience in every facet of the business. Bottom line: Serge knows everything about non-ferrous; in fact, if he doesn’t know it, it’s probably not worth knowing. Take the opportunity to talk to him at our booth.
Jeff has been in the steel industry for over 20 years and has experience in ferrous raw materials, finished steel trading and international ferrous trading. He’s responsible for domestic ferrous trading and our ferrous container exports from our US operations. You’ll want to hear his take on where ferrous is going.
Mark is our logistics experts who knows about moving product efficiently like he knows the back of his hand. Since joining a decade ago, he has been responsible for global logistics, covering rail, ocean and road transportation (along with ferrous scrap, sales and execution of contracts, including trade finance, vessels and ports operations). Before that, he spent 30 years in the ocean bulk market as a chartering broker and agency manager representing numerous traders and cargo interest around the world. If you want it moved, he’ll know how.
No stranger to ISRI for the past seven years, Anthony is our resident aluminum expert; he also handles precious metals. Anthony has a reputation for being honourable: his word is his bond and a handshake is as good as an iron-clad contract. People doing business with Anthony know that a deal is written in stone and he’ll deliver, no matter which way the market swings. Dimitra will be joining him, so come talk aluminum to this dynamic duo.
Stella, Kent and Daniel are our amazing Hong Kong team and, as our experts in all Asian markets, are ready to discuss non-ferrous with you. If you’re interested in our expansion in Asia, don’t miss out on having a chat with them.
Christopher joins us from our Belgium office -- which specializes in cable shredding and copper recovery as well as armature shredding -- and brings with him over 20 years of experience in non-ferrous metals and operational efficiency. Come talk to him about the newest trends in equipment or if you’re a supplier of electric motors, shredder pickings, starters or alternators.
And don’t miss out on the rest of our team: the very knowledgeable (and charming) Claudio, who is Mr. Black’s right hand and works closely with our buyers; Doug, the sharp and dynamic leader of our Kenny U-Pull business line, along with his colleague Dwayne; Lisbet, our extremely personable IT chief; Morgane, our clever marketing whiz who led the branding of our new booth and promo items; and Tania, our senior trader, who works closely with Serge and deals mainly with zinc, copper and brass.
