AIM: 90 Years of Progress, and Just Getting Started

Ninety years is a significant milestone for any company, but for American Iron & Metal (AIM), it represents much more than time. It reflects generations of hard work, steady leadership and the people who continue to move the organization forward every day.

When we began planning this anniversary, we wanted it to feel meaningful.

One of the first steps was introducing the 90th anniversary logo. It builds on AIM’s strong identity while marking this important moment in our history. It’s simple, solid and forward-looking, much like the company itself. It represents nine decades of growth and the strong foundation that continues to support everything we do.

Today our 90th anniversary logo is prominently featured on AIM trucks throughout our network, showcased at numerous site locations and highlighted across our social media channels.

In March, we also took the opportunity to sit down with AIM Owners, Herb and Ron Black.

They reflected on their father, Peter Black, who founded the company, discussing its evolution over the decades and the core values that have remained unchanged. It was a candid conversation about growth, challenges, and the vital role people have played in shaping AIM’s success. These insights will be featured in a special anniversary video releasing summer 2026.

Celebrating our people

Internally at AIM, the focus has been on celebrating our people and our shared history. From engaging, educational trivia contests offering a chance to win exclusive 90th anniversary swag, to special spotlight features recognizing employees with 20 or more years of service, the focus has been on appreciation and recognition.

We’re also gearing up for our annual employee appreciation BBQ this June, where even more festivities will mark our 90th anniversary.

Externally, it’s about sharing the story of AIM’s evolution and reinforcing our role as a leader in the circular economy. We’re proud to be featured as the March/April cover story in Recycling Product News, highlighting our journey from humble beginnings to one of North America’s leading metal recyclers.

This is only the beginning.

The 90th anniversary will unfold throughout the year, and this blog marks the first in a series highlighting AIM at 90. In the months ahead, we’ll continue sharing stories about the people, milestones and moments that shaped the organization.

Ninety years is something to be proud of. But what truly defines AIM is not just how long we’ve been here. It’s how we continue to grow, adapt and move forward together.
